Episodic and Restorative Health Care (ASD)

Catalog description

In this course students continue to develop critical thinking and clinical judgment through use of the nursing process to deliver safe, person-centered nursing care. Emphasis is placed on prevention of complications, and the promotion, maintenance, or improvement of health in episodic (maternal/newborn health, acute care) and restorative populations across the lifespan. Students refine the use of professional communication skills and health education concepts when developing a therapeutic relationship. Clinical experiences offer opportunity to learn effective teamwork and collegiality by coordinating with others as part of a healthcare team. Reflection is fostered to aid their personal development and increase their understanding of professionalism and of the values at the core of nursing’s role in society.
