Catalog description

This course focuses on the health and care of older adults with an emphasis on acute care and chronic care. This course includes identification of disease risk factors associated with aging and reasons elderly are not able to remain in their homes. Caregiving, social support, competencies in Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN), and principles that provide direction to promote, restore, and maintain the health of the older adult patient will be explored. Students will develop respect and an appreciation for the older adult in disease management and advanced pharmacology. Analysis will be conducted on internal and external stressors that influence developmental tasks and activities of daily living encompassing the physiological, psychological, and sociological health dimensions.
