Catalog description

This course serves as the second of two in the cumulative design experience in the mechanical engineering program. Students continue work as members of a team to refine the design proposed in the prerequisite Capstone Design I course. Refinement of the design may include further analysis of design performance with computational tools (e.g. FEA/CFD), drafting of part and assembly drawings, construction and testing of a prototype, adaptation of the design for manufacturing scalability, and other modifications which account for public safety, environmental, social, global, and economic factors. Students will defend their final design with a written report as well as a public poster presentation to a general audience.
