Catalog description

This is the second of a two-course sequence focused on executing a team-based capstone design project in Industrial Engineering. Building on the proposal developed in IND 4901, students implement, pilot, analyze, and evaluate engineering solutions to a real-world, client-sponsored problem. Working in teams, students apply industrial engineering methods and professional practices to manage project scope, resources, risks, and stakeholder expectations. Emphasis is placed on data-driven decision making, validation of results, and implementation effectiveness. Teams are expected to implement or pilot their solutions when feasible; when full implementation is not possible, they develop a detailed, analysis-supported implementation plan. The course concludes with a formal written report, professional presentation and poster demonstrating the team’s ability to integrate engineering knowledge and deliver a viable solution to a complex problem.
