Catalog description

This course will provide an introduction to the modelling and optimization of processes. Upon completion of this course, each student will be able to understand, develop, and apply deterministic (non-random) mathematical models to engineering and operational problems; use these models to assist the decision-making process; determine the optimal and near-optimal solutions to complex problems, and develop an understanding of how these methods impact business and industry; and use computer software to solve these engineering problems. In addition, this class should also assist students in improving their problem-solving skills and their ability to communicate complex topics effectively.
