This course gives students a working knowledge of the capabilities and limitations of humans and how that can be applied to the proper design of products, workspaces, and jobs for better safety, greater efficiency, productivity, and comfort. The course will include physical and cognitive aspects of work, as well as micro-ergonomic concerns (i.e., the study of the interaction between tools/technology, the environment, software, and the job, with people) and macro-ergonomics concerns (i.e., the design of overall work systems by providing information and methodology needed to make improvements).
