Catalog description

This course in the health professions sequence explores how technology, data, and innovative practices are transforming care across the health continuum-from prevention and diagnosis to treatment, recovery, and population health. Students will examine how digital tools, artificial intelligence, precision health, and data-driven decision-making are reshaping professional roles and patient experiences. A central focus of the course is the application of a team-based approach to care. Through simulation-based learning, students will practice interprofessional collaboration in dynamic, real-world scenarios, developing skills in communication, coordination, and ethical reasoning. Students will continue to deepen their engagement with the Flourishing Framework, applying the virtues of caring, character, and practical wisdom to emerging challenges in health systems. The course also invites critical reflection on how innovation can advance-or hinder-equity, fairness, and social justice in healthcare delivery. Applied AI Integration: This course meets or exceeds MSOE’s Applied AI Integration guidelines for sufficient coverage of Critical Evaluation and Social Responsibility.
