Introduction to Health Professions II

Catalog description

This is the second of two introductory courses in the Health Professions series. It expands students’ understanding of the diverse landscape of health-related careers by introducing four additional professions: Medicine, Anesthesia Assistant, Pharmacist, and Nursing. Students will explore the scope of practice, core responsibilities, and real-world impact of each role, with attention to how these professionals contribute to individual and community well-being. Building on the foundational concepts of the Flourishing Framework, this course invites students to engage more deeply with the virtues of caring, character, and practical wisdom. Through case studies, reflective writing, and collaborative dialogue, students will examine how these virtues are cultivated and expressed across different professional contexts. Emphasis will be placed on ethical decision-making, interprofessional collaboration, and the role of health professionals in promoting dignity, purpose, and thriving across the lifespan.
