Electrical Engineering - Senior Design Project I

Catalog description

This is the first course in the two-course EE senior design sequence. Students form design teams consisting of three to five members and define a design problem which has alternative solutions. Alternatives are analyzed considering the needs and wants of a customer, safety, standards, and feasibility in the context of global, economic, environmental, and societal impacts. The teams finalize their design, producing a Project Design Report that demonstrates an ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within multiple realistic constraints such as standards, economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability. This is the complete documented design of their project including detailed block diagrams and schematics. The course culminates with a preliminary design review that includes a team presentation. Students maintain an engineering log documenting important aspects of the design and their individual contribution to the project.
