Catalog description

This course introduces undergraduate students to the critical skills necessary for engaging with academic literature in their field. Through weekly discussions of research papers, students will learn to approach and critically analyze scientific papers. The course also covers the fundamentals of writing and submitting a research paper to a peer-reviewed journal or conference, including proper tone and structure. Additionally, the course will provide guidance on identifying research opportunities, including potential faculty mentors, relevant courses, and available resources to support undergraduate research endeavors. Students interested in pursuing research opportunities will develop a research proposal. Students will enhance their technical knowledge of leading research topics, critical thinking skills, and understanding of the peer review process.
