Catalog description

This course introduces instruction set architecture, assembly language programming, central processing unit design, memory organization, computer system performance analysis, and special purpose hardware units that support modern cognitive systems. Students write assembly language programs, use a hardware description language to implement a pipelined processor, and evaluate how architectural design trade-offs affect instruction throughput. Applied AI Integration: This course meets or exceeds MSOE’s Applied AI Integration guidelines for substantial coverage of Foundational Knowledge.
