Catalog description

Students will be introduced to major concepts and themes of organic chemistry. Students will gain understanding of organic chemistry principles and perform hands-on laboratory experiments to gain laboratory skills and analyze experimental data. Students will learn details about functional groups and their chemical reactions. Stereochemistry and conformational analysis will be studied. Students will be introduced to reaction mechanisms applied to specific reactions. Technique for analysis of organic molecules will be introduced. Fundamental organic chemistry knowledge learned could be applied towards biology, medicine, environmental, and material science.
