Catalog description

This is a survey course for healthcare professionals introducing the fundamental concepts of general chemistry. Students will be introduced to basic concepts and themes of general chemistry. Students will gain knowledge of concepts and perform hands-on laboratory experiments. Students will use atomic theory, molecular structure, chemical reactions, and solutions. Students will explore states of matter, specifically gas laws in the context of human physiology. Knowledge of acids, bases, and buffers will be gained. Nuclear chemistry with a specific focus on medical applications will be studied. This course is also open to non-nursing and non-engineering students to fulfill a science course credit.
