Catalog description

This lab-based course covers experimentation of several process engineering courses (Unit Operations, Kinetics and Bioreactor Design, Transport Phenomena and Thermodynamics) covered in the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering program. Labs on heat transfer, bioreactor, unit operations, and process simulation are undertaken. Students will learn the working principles of each equipment and conduct the experiments after detailed planning to achieve the desired output. Students will also apply design equations of these equipment in order to scale them up for larger production quantities. Additionally, process simulation with SuperPro Designer software will allow students to integrate and analyze several unit operations into a complete manufacturing facility.
