Catalog description

This course is the second of two courses that make up the biomedical engineering capstone design experience. Students continue team-based design projects from the BME 4901 course, progressing to design at the subsystem and component levels. Students conduct risk assessment and mitigation strategies to improve their design. Students are expected to integrate subsystems to create a functional prototype of a biomedical device to address the original problem. Extensive system level verification tests are planned, conducted and documented. The course culminates in a formal presentation in which students communicate the goals of their project and their final product.
