Introduction to Human Body Systems for Radiological Applications
Milwaukee School of Engineering · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
This course serves as an introduction to anatomy and physiology for body systems most commonly visualized with medical imaging. Body systems include the nervous system, the cardiovascular system, the musculoskeletal system, and the gastrointestinal system. Visualization and clinical assessment of anatomical and physiological systems in medical images is emphasized. Numerous case study examples are used to illustrate the advantages as well as practical challenges of medical imaging and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in visualizing human anatomy and function, and reliability in making clinical judgements. The significance of accurate ground truth information for clinical assessment, along with strategies to mitigate its effects on findings variability, is also discussed.
