Catalog description

This course prepares students to assign ICD procedure codes supported by medical documentation with entry-level proficiency. Students apply instructional notations, conventions, rules and official coding guidelines when assigning ICD procedure codes to case studies and actual medical record documentation. Prerequisite(s): Must be admitted to the Medical Coding Specialist program (31-530-2) or the Health Information Technology program (10-530-1). Complete BIOSCI-177 or BIOSCI-189, or both BIOSCI-201 and BIOSCI-202. Complete HEALTH-101 and HEALTH-107 with a grade of C or higher. Completion of or currently enrolled in HIT-182. HORT – Horticulture (Department 001)
