Catalog description

This course develops the knowledge and skills required to work safely in the chemical laboratory. Among the topics included are the history and application of state and federal regulations pertaining to the workplace, recognition and reduction of chemical and physical hazards, manipulation of glassware and laboratory equipment, handling compressed gas cylinders, and personal protective equipment and practices. Certified Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for Professional Rescuers and first aid training are included. Prerequisite(s): Complete CHEM-110, CHEM-211 or both SCIHS-705 and SCIHS-706, or both SCIPH-705 and SCIPH-706, with a grade of C or higher.
