Genetics is the science of heredity in living organisms, and this four-credit course offers an integrated introduction to the principles, concepts and methods of modern genetics. Students will explore the molecular basis of genes, Mendelian inheritance and the application of genetic problem-solving to biological questions. By the end of the course, students will be able to fluently use terminology relevant to modern genetics and molecular biology, interpret genetic data to draw informed biological conclusions, and connect core genetic principles to real-world topics such as DNA technologies, human genetic diseases and evolutionary processes. Prerequisite(s): Complete BIOTEC-121.
