Catalog description

This course examines the structure and function of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells at the molecular and subcellular levels. Students will explore how proteins, DNA and RNA interact to support life processes such as energy production, growth, division and response to stimuli. Topics include mechanisms of disease, especially cancer, modern tools for studying genes and cells, and the evolution of genomes. Students will also practice interpreting scientific literature and communicating biological concepts.
