Catalog description

An introduction to the nature of peace and justice, both on a societal level and in an interpersonal context. This course will survey the interplay between economic, environmental, political, and societal systems that lead to injustice and violence, as well as analyze destructive and constructive human emotions and responses to conflict. Concentration will be given to classic and contemporary concepts and methods of peacemaking, such as truth and reconciliation commissions, nonviolent civil resistance, and deep listening. Offered occasionally. Three semester hours.
