Catalog description
An introduction to waves in mechanical, electronic, and optical systems, which teaches students mathematical methods in physics such as complex variables and Fourier analysis. Topics include simple oscillations, resonance, superposition, normal modes, traveling waves, electromagnetic waves, interference, and diffraction. Prerequisites: MATH 212 and PHYS 204 or consent of the instructor. Offered occasionally. Four semester hours.
