An examination of the relationship between the American family, the law, and the church. Topics include the legal definitions of marriage and family; the rights and obligations within the family; the role of church and government in marriage and family life; the dissolution of marriage and related issues such as the distribution of marital assets, alimony, child custody, visitation, and support; the issues of paternity, adoption and surrogacy will also be explored.
