Catalog description

Exploration of the fundamentals of embedded system hardware and firmware design. The overall course objective is to provide the student with in-depth knowledge of embedded systems including overall system design, interfacing, operating systems, data acquisition, communication protocols, and real-time performance with an emphasis on design considerations such as cost, reliability, compatibility, and safety. A very popular microcontroller will be studied (Arduino). Students will utilize Arduino platform to design systems that support specific applications, such as analog-to-digital converters, polling applications, interrupt-driven applications, and mechatronics concepts. Prerequisite: EENG 321. Offered occasionally. Three semester hours.
