Catalog description

This course provides an in- depth exploration of mathematical principles essential for elementary teachers, focusing on numerical operations, algebraic thinking, geometry, measurement, data analysis, and probability. Emphasis is placed on building procedural fluency grounded in conceptual understanding and best practices for teaching these concepts in elementary classrooms. Candidates will identify high-quality instructional materials (HQIM) and use these materials to develop skills in lesson planning, differentiated instruction, and assessment to meet the needs of all learners. Field experience is a key component, offering practical opportunities to apply course content in elementary settings. Offered spring semester each year. Three semester hours.
