Catalog description
This course provides an overview of operating system components, including processor, memory, file, and device management. It delves into the principles underlying the design and implementation of operating systems, specifically focusing on Linux, mainly Ubuntu. Topics covered include process scheduling, memory and virtual memory management, device drivers, file systems, network organization, and security principles in the context of operating systems. Through the course, students will understand how operating systems function, how they manage hardware and software resources, and how they provide a foundation for application software. Offered fall term each year. Three semester hours.
