Object Oriented Programming in JAVA

Catalog description

This course is an in- depth exploration of Java, a versatile and widely-used programming language, focusing on object-oriented programming (OOP) capabilities. This course covers the core aspects of Java, including data types, operators, control structures, loops, and array handling, with a special emphasis on single- & multi-dimensional arrays and ArrayLists for dynamic data management. Students will gain hands-on experience with Java's graphical user interface (GUI) components, event-driven programming, and file input/output operations. The course is structured around the fundamental principles of OOP, such as encapsulation, inheritance, polymorphism, and information hiding, providing students with the skills to design and implement robust software systems. Prerequisite: CS 211 or previous programming experience. Offered spring term even years. Three semester hours.
