Catalog description

This course will address the pharmacological and physiological influence of substance addiction. Classifications, indications, and contraindications of commonly prescribed psychopharmacological medications for appropriate medical referral and consultation will be addressed. In addition, the diagnostic process, including differential diagnoses and the use of current diagnostic classification systems, including the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) and the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) will be covered. Offered spring term each year. Three semester hours.
