Introduction to the Counseling Profession

Catalog description

An orientation to the counseling profession introduction that trains students in various aspects of the counseling field including: the history of the counseling profession; exam and licensure requirements related to development as a professional counselor; and individual approaches to counseling with a particular emphasis on counseling skills and competencies necessary to becoming a counselor, with regard to the roles and functions of counselors in a professional setting including preparation for practicum, internship, and various employment opportunities. This course must be taken at Milligan; no transfer credit allowed for this course. Offered fall term each year. Three semester hours.
