Catalog description

An introduction to and practice in the fundamentals of writing for a variety of mass media professions, including journalism, public relations, technical writing, internet, and broadcast. The course will focus on conducting research; organization; storytelling forms; grammar and syntax; and production processes. Offered occasionally. Three semester hours. COMM 180/180M. Storytelling for Business and Ministry – A course in which students become aware of their own potential as storytellers and the power of storytelling in their lives and professions. Storytelling literature and history of storytelling are surveyed, but the practice of telling stories orally receives the major concentration. Students begin the development of their own personal style and develop a repertoire of stories. Offered fall term each year. Three semester hours.
