This course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of key elements essential for successful management within nonprofit organizations. Through a combination of lectures, case studies, discussions, and practical exercises, students will develop the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in leadership roles within the non-profit sector. The course will cover various topics including: − Mission Development & Focus: The process of developing a clear and effective mission statement that guides organizational goals and drives strategic initiatives. − Employment & Recruiting: Understanding the roles and responsibilities of employees within a nonprofit organization and best practices for recruiting and retaining talent. − Volunteer Recruitment: Techniques for recruiting and managing volunteers effectively to support organizational initiatives. − Fundraising: Planning and executing successful fundraising events and campaigns to support the financial health of the organization. − Community Engagement & Marketing: Strategies for engaging with the community and promoting the organization's mission through marketing efforts. − Financial Management: Fundamentals of financial management within non-profits, including budgeting, accounting practices, and strategic financial planning. − IRS Status & Filing Requirements: An overview of IRS regulations and reporting requirements for maintaining non- profit status and compliance. − Grant Writing: Techniques for researching, writing, and securing grants to support organizational programs and initiatives. By the end of the course, students will be equipped with the tools needed to effectively manage various aspects of nonprofit operations and make a positive impact within their communities.
