Catalog description

The purpose of this course is to provide students with an understanding of the current legal principles which affect the supervision, management, and business operations of sport. Specific areas of law covered will include tort law, constitutional law, employment and labor law, Title VII and Title IX, and contract law, among others. Students will be exposed to a variety of legal issues at the interscholastic, intercollegiate, and professional levels of sport while learning professional standards/practices of care to best reduce liability and act as a reasonably prudent sport manager.
