Introduction to Trauma-Informed Therapy

Catalog description

This 3-credit advanced elective course will provide specialized knowledge to help empower students to address the needs of the diverse range of clients who have been traumatized. This course offers an overview of the history of trauma treatment, current research on the effects of trauma, theoretical perspectives, and cutting edge therapeutic modalities. In addition, experiential learning through interviews, group work, role-playing, and personal introspective work will be employed. Students who have been traumatized themselves will need to be mindful that this class may be triggering for them.
