Perspectives on outdoor education, which vary based on country or culture. Outdoor education in this course is defined as experiential learning outside the classroom; i.e., to learn by doing. The aims of outdoor education are to learn how to overcome adversity, foster personal and social development, and promote a relationship with nature. Four hikes of increasing distance occur on weekends during the semester. Credit will only be granted for one FYEX 100 course, regardless of letter or title.
