Application of atmospheric dynamics and atmospheric physics to the theoretical and empirical investigation of mid-latitude synoptic-scale meteorological processes. Topics include the diagnosis of synoptic-scale vertical motions, the circulation at fronts and the life cycle of the extratropical cyclone. 3 hrs. lec., 3 hrs. lab. Offered in fall. Prereq: ESSC 340, 341, 343.
