Oceanic chemical phenomena, including structure of water, salinity, sources and sinks of chemical constituents; chemical interactions at interfaces between hydrosphere and atmosphere, lithosphere and biosphere; biogeochemical cycles of nutrients; the carbon-dioxide-carbonate system; origin and history of seawater; anthropogenic effects. Prereq: C- or higher in ESSC 261 and CHEM 111.
