Foundations of Reading

Catalog description

This course is designed to introduce teacher candidates to the field of teaching reading, including: structured literacy competencies that include evidence-based approaches to reading instruction in phonological and phonemic awareness, phonics and word recognition, spelling, automatic, fluent reading of text, vocabulary development, listening and reading comprehension, written expression, and differentiating reading instruction for a diverse population of learners. This course includes a required field experience. Pre-req: ECPK 110.
