Catalog description

An examination of educator effectiveness, inclusive pedagogy, research, assessment, and reflection prepares candidates to meet the needs of a diverse student body. Emphasis is placed on understanding how race, culture, ethnicity, gender identity, language, and socialization influence classroom interactions. Students apply theory and evidence-based practices to design culturally responsive literacy lessons, collaborate with families, and implement equitable instruction across settings. Through applied projects and reflective analysis of their own K-12 experiences, candidates explore the complexity of teaching and their role in fostering inclusive, standards-based classrooms.
