Explores the origins and evolution of hip-hop culture from its birth in the Bronx during the 1970s through the end of the 20th century. Topics include elements of hip-hop, such as the Golden Era, political and commercial rap, and regional styles. Course concludes with a look at hip-hop’s post-2000 influence on global music, media, and technology.
