Focuses on the art of writing a jazz arrangement. Various orchestration techniques (both linear and horizontal), writing for the rhythm section, ranges and transposition of instruments, form and historical approaches to arranging for jazz ensembles presented. Preparation of arrangements for several performances required during the semester.
