Catalog description

This course is designed to give an overview of the transportation and warehousing environment, in both the domestic and global arenas. Regarding transportation management, this includes micro and macro insights into the importance of transportation to both the firm and the economy, and an overview of rail, motor, air, water, and pipeline modes of transport and the governmental regulations associated with each, along with economics of transportation costing and pricing in a free market economy. The focus for warehousing management is to understand, identify, and analyze key strategies that allow organizations to compete in both the domestic U.S. and global markets. Topics covered from analytical and practical perspectives include: warehouse operations, warehouse ownership arrangements, warehouse decision making, and warehousing technologies.
