Portrait Painting

Catalog description

This course will explore portraiture through painting with oil, acrylic, and aqueous media. We will specialize in capturing the likeness and persona of the sitter. We will study lighting and staging of the portrait and the process, from preliminary sketch to finished painting. As well as the history of portraiture in the context of historical events, gender, politics, class, form, structure, and aesthetics.
