Catalog description

This course is designed for prospective secondary English teachers. This course concentrates on teaching English as a written form of communication. The focus is on inquiry, reflection, and design; the processes of writing; the relationship of reading and writing; grammar and usage; development of teaching units and curriculum; classroom applications; authentic assessment of writing; writing and instructional media; the relationship between writing and other forms of communication, the development of the teacher as a researcher; the teacher as a model; and research and professional issues in this area. Oklahoma Academic Standards (C3) are basic to the class content. Thirty (30) hours of Field experience is required.
