Methods of Elementary Math

Catalog description

This course focuses on the methods and materials, including technology, for teaching elementary school mathematics. The course aims to help pre-service students become confident in their ability to teach mathematics so they can do the same for their future students. It is predicated upon a constructivist approach to teaching elementary mathematics as recommended by the NCTM Principles and Standards for School Mathematics. Oklahoma Academic Standards (C3) Emphasized are elementary mathematics content and the methods and materials useful to teach it. Five (5) hours of field experience is required.
