Catalog description

Digital Media Literacy offers a foundational introduction to a better understanding of how mass media and mediums create, disseminate, and even manipulate knowledge and information for good and for ill. Students would engage in a survey of readings curated to deepen visual, cultural, and linguistic “literacy” as a method for better understanding how the Internet and digital cultures augment reality to shape communication. Assignments and readings intentionally reflect the messy nature of contemporary media, and students would gain access and exposure to a wide spectrum that combines digital journalism with scholarly publication.
