Catalog description

This course examines the history of the Spanish language and the peoples of the Spanish-speaking world. Sociolinguistic, cultural, and political factors will be explored as a means of understanding how Spanish has been shaped by contact with many other languages and cultures over centuries. This knowledge will help us understand that language is not just a tool for communication, but also a record of history and the interactions that different groups of people have had. PA-3B, PA-4C. CAS-A. Prerequisite: SPN 312 .
