Medical Spanish & Interpreting

Catalog description

This course is focused on the practical application of Spanish in the medical field. Students will learn the foundational skills for medical interpreting in three different modes of interpreting (consecutive, simultaneous, and sight translation) as well as the logistics and ethics of interpreting. By nature this course will involve consistent conversational practice with the aim of improving students´ overall fluency. Students will also review pertinent grammatical concepts and medical terminology to strengthen their accuracy of expression. This course will count as part of the Medical Spanish and Latino Health certificate. Prerequisite: SPN 311 .
