Introduction to law as a form of dispute resolution and a mechanism of social control. Examines the law as both an independent variable and a dependent variable by studying the relationship between law and other social institutions using sociological theory and sociological research. Prerequisite: SOC 151 or SOC 153 or SOC/ SJS 165 .
