Sport, Power and Inequality

Catalog description

This course examines the relationship between sport and contemporary society. Emphasis upon the operations of structural and ideological power in sport as evidenced in and through social class, race, gender, sexuality, disability, and national identity. Explores sport as a significant cultural form that holds the capacity to simultaneously perpetuate and challenge inequality and injustice, with a focus on how sport can be used as vehicle for social change.
