Catalog description

The course is a continuation of PHY 281 with further quantitative development of quantum and statistical physics, covering enabling tools and techniques from atomic, molecular, condensed matter, nuclear and particle physics, as well as advances in nanotechnology, quantum optics, and biophysics. The PHY 281 /282 sequence provides a solid conceptual and mathematical foundation for students continuing with advanced physics courses. It is also valuable as a terminal physics sequence for students in physics-related fields. Prerequisite: PHY 281 .
